Abstract

Chemo-intelligence is defined as artificially realizing and then materializing various functions and structures that are caused by the transmission of precise chemical information based on molecular recognition in organisms. Creation of substances/materials having functions no less superior to those of organisms enables environmentally benign, energy-saving, and resource-conserving functional materials to be realized, as materials for separation of toxic and useful substances, their sensing, and the conversion (catalysts). For this purpose, started were a computational chemical approach for molecular design, functional prediction, functional analysis, etc., to realize precise molecular recognition; an approach from synthesis of molecular recognition compounds; an approach from functional manifestation/elucidation, structural analysis, etc.; and also investigation and research on application to the materialization and systematization. The results were summarized by classifying them into molecular interactions, host molecules, ionic substance recognition compounds, super molecular structures, materialization, application, etc..
