Analysis of the electromagnetic excitation influence on distribution power lines produced by nearby atmospheric discharges and transformer behavior study; Analisis de la influencia de la excitacion electromagnetica en lineas de distribucion producida por descargas atmosfericas cercanas y estudio del comportamiento del transformador

Abstract

The great scientific and technological advance obtained during the last years, has given rise to the extensive use of complex electronic control systems, computers and medical equipment with electronic control. Due to this, at the present time, a very reliable provision of electrical energy is a must. In this work the effects that produce the atmospheric discharges (cloud-earth rays) when they strike a point near a distribution line are analyzed. Also the surges that appear in the primary and in the secondary of a transformer installed in an experimental line, are analyzed. A model for the study of the electrostatic transference between the primary and the secondary of a single-phase of a distribution transformer is proposed. In chapter I a brief study about the ray phenomenon is presented; the steps that are required from its formation as accumulated electrical charge in a storm cloud, until its discharge to Earth (discharge cloud-earth) are explained, besides how its main parameters vary during its development. Since it is important a good understanding of the mechanism of connection between the electromagnetic field of the ray and the voltage (or current) induced in a nearby aerial line, in chapter II, a brief revision is made  More>>

Since it is important a good understanding of the mechanism of connection between the electromagnetic field of the ray and the voltage (or current) induced in a nearby aerial line, in chapter II, a brief revision is made of diverse models of induced voltages. In chapter III, a transformer model is proposed that is used to represent its transient behavior in relation to the voltages that appear in its terminals by the effect of atmospheric discharges near the power line. In chapter IV, the most important analysis is made, since the effects that take place in the secondary of the transformer when a surge in the primary is induced are interpreted, using the proposed model for the transformer. In chapter V, after developing the required analyses by means of the digital programs, the necessary results are obtained and discussed with field measurements to interpret the effects that these induced surges produce, as well as the transformer behavior, and in chapter Vi a brief analysis of the effect that the protection with lightning arresters in the transformer's primary is made, since it is very important to protect it against voltage surges. [Spanish] El gran avance cientifico y tecnologico logrado durante los ultimos anos, ha dado lugar al uso extensivo de sistemas electronicos complejos de control, computadoras y equipo medico con control electronico. Debido a esto, en la actualidad se tiene necesidad de un suministro muy confiable de energia electrica. En este trabajo se analizan los efectos que producen las descargas atmosfericas (rayo nube-tierra) cuando inciden en un punto cercano a una linea de distribucion. Tambien se estudian las sobretensiones que aparecen en el primario y secundario de un transformador instalado en una linea experimental. Se propone un modelo para el estudio de la transferencia electrostatica entre el primario y el secundario de un transformador monofasico de distribucion. En el capitulo I se presenta un breve estudio acerca del fenomeno del rayo; se explican los pasos que se requieren desde su formacion como carga electrica acumulada en una nube de tormenta, hasta su descarga en la tierra (descarga nube-tierra), ademas de como varian sus parametros principales durante su desarrollo. Ya que es importante una buena comprension del mecanismo de acoplamiento entre el campo electromagnetico del rayo y el voltaje (o corriente) inducido en una linea aerea cercana, en el capitulo II, se realiza una breve revision acerca de diversos modelos de voltajes inducidos. En el capitulo III, se propone un modelo del transformador que se utiliza para representar su comportamiento transitorio en relacion con los voltajes que aparecen en sus terminales por efecto de descargas atmosfericas cercanas a la linea. En el capitulo IV, se realiza el analisis mas importante, ya que se interpretan los efectos que se producen en el secundario del transformador cuando se induce una sobretension en el primario, utilizando el modelo propuesto para el transformador. En el capitulo V, despues de desarrollar los analisis requeridos mediante los programas digitales, se obtienen los resultados necesarios y se discuten con mediciones de campo para interpretar los efectos que producen estas sobretensiones inducidas, asi como el comportamiento del transformador y. En el capitulo VI, se hace un breve analisis del efecto que produce la proteccion con apartarrayos en el primario del transformador, ya que es muy importante protegerlo contra sobretensiones.}
