Abstract
Orientation process of {sup 23}Na atoms and nuclei by short (10{sup -8}s) pulse of polarized light was investigated. Tunable dye laser with pulsing power up to 15 kW was used. Dependence of resonance fluorescence for {sup 23}Na D1- and D2- transitions on scattering angle and laser irradiation power was measured. Atomic polarization up to 35% and nuclear polarization up to 20% was reached in time shorter than laser pulse duration. 11 refs.; 4 figs.; 3 tabs.
