Neutron quantum reflection

Abstract

The problem of neutron reflection from a medium with an oscillating potential is considered. The reflected wave state represents a superposition of coherent waves of various normal wave number components and energies. When thermal and cold neutrons are reflected, these waves are separated in space. Possible experimental observation of this phenomenon and also possible applications in reflectometry are discussed.
