Abstract
The x-ray diffraction (xrd) techniques was used for the characterization of magnesium fluoride powders from magnesiothermy process. Those powders contains magnesium oxide and uranium oxides (UO{sub x}). THe XRD method was used as an analytical tool for quantitative determination of the magnesium oxide content. This method is non-destructive, fast and reliable in comparison to the wet analysis. In this work we also suggest some mechanisms for the production of the magnesium oxide. The XRD technique can be used also for the determination of the water content in uranium tetrafluoride. (author).
