Integrated energy and environmental analyses; Integrerede energi- og miljoeanalyser

Abstract

The publication takes the form of a resume and conclusions related to a series of analyses of the coordinated energy and environmental problems experienced in Denmark and the Nordic countries in general. A number of these studies concerned actual methods and tools of analysis. The method was to construct a number of scenarios of the Danish energy system in the year 2010. These were built up in such a way that it would be possible to choose a total energy system which, under specific degrees of social and technological development, satisfied certain environmental goals at the lowest possible cost. On this basis conclusions are made and the suitability of the working methods are discussed. Conclusions mainly concern the feasibility of general strategies for the reduction of carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, through energy conservation, pollutive emission reduction and changing from district heating to natural gas cogeneration plants. Economical aspects are emphasised. It is stated that the transport sector contributes a significant amount to air pollution. The discussion is presented in considerable detail. (AB) (25 refs.).
