Abstract

The elastic moduli of single crystals of a La{sub 2-x} Sr{sub x} Cu O{sub 4} system are measured. A considerable anisotropy of the elastic moduli is observed in untwinned samples for x = 0. It is found that for x = 0.13 some of the elastic moduli undergo abrupt charges under the tetra - ortho structure transformation. A theory of elastic properties of poly domain samples is developed.
