Observation of polarization effects in {Lambda}{sup +}{sub c} semileptonic decay

Abstract

Polarization of the {Lambda} daughter baryon from {Lambda}{sub c}{sup +} {yields} {Lambda}l{sup +}{nu}{sub l} decay has been measured for the first time using the ARGUS detector at the DORIS II e{sup +}e{sup -} storage ring. Expressed in terms of the {Lambda}{sub c}{sup +} semileptonic asymmetry parameter the result is {alpha}{sub {Lambda}c} = -0.91 {+-} 0.49 for events in the mass region 1.85 < M({Lambda}l{sup +}) < 2.20 GeV/c{sup 2}.
