Scavenging of electrons and radicals by propyl imidazole platinum(II) complex in aqueous methanol solutions

Abstract

The radiation decomposition of N-propylomidazole platinum(II) complex Pt(PIA){sub 2}Cl{sub 2} in aqueous-methanol solutions has been studied. The decomposition yield of the complex has been measured. The determined rate constants of electron scavenging measured by the pulse radiolysis have shown the high reactivity of the complex and the lower one of PIA (free ligand) towards the electrons. The low reactivity of PIA as well as the complex towards radicals have also been shown. (author). 13 refs, 4 figs.
