Abstract
The influence of electron deficiency of the transition metal-containing fragments on the coordinated azo benzene has been studied. It has been shown that azo benzene can donate from 2 to 6 electrons to the binuclear M{sub 2}L{sub 2} fragments but the further increasing of the metal core electron deficiency results in the cleavage of the N=N bond and the coordinated terminal and bridge nitrene groups formation. These results are discussed in relation to the N{sub 2} fixation modelling. (author). 40 refs.
