Abstract
The Department of Reactor Fuel Examination, Hot Laboratory Division in the Department of Research Reactor and WASTEF Division in the Department of Environmental Safety Research were consolidated into `the Department of Hot Laboratories` in 1991. The Research Hot Laboratory (RHL) has been used for various kinds of post-irradiation examinations (PIEs) of high radioactive samples since 1961. The Reactor Fuel Examination Facility (REEF) has been mainly used for PIEs of power reactor fuels since 1979. The Waste Safety Testing Facility (WASTEF) has been used for safety examinations on storage and disposal of high level radioactive waste since 1982. The main purpose of the reorganization was to operate effectively these three hot cell facilities which have common techniques to examine high radioactive materials. This report describes the activities in the Department of Hot Laboratories in fiscal year of 1991. (author).
