Abstract
The goal of the paper is to describe two relevant examples of applications of ceramic materials in the manufacturing of components for thermonuclear fusion experimental reactors. The first example refers to the activities for the development and qualification of a suitable metal/ceramic brazing process performed by ENEA (Italian Agency for Energy, New Technologies and the Environment) within the framework of the technological effort for the manufacturing of the coupling structures of the radiofrequency (RF) additional heating system of the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade (FTU) reactor. The second example refers to the application and qualification of ceramic insulation coatings deposited by plasma-spray, used to control the overall resistivity of the NET (Next European Torus) Tokamak vacuum chamber.
