Abstract
This report describes some methods set up by ENEA (the Italian National Agency for Energy, New Technologies and the Environment) to improve the maintenance types and intervals of power plant components and systems on the basis of reliability and cost criteria. The resulting algorithms were introduced into a computer code (SPAR), using Montecarlo techniques, which automatically performs the improvement of the previously mentioned maintenance parameters and of the spare parts to be stored.
