Calibration and application of a HPGe gamma spectrometer for in-situ measurements

Abstract

The principle and methods of the calibration for an in-situ {gamma} spectrometer are introduced. The calibration for a portable HPGe {gamma} spectrometer has been completed. The N{sub f}/A(peak count rate per unit activity in soil) and N{sub f}/D(peak count rate per unit absorbed dose rate in the air) are listed. The uncertainties of the calibration factors are estimated. The in-situ measurements have been carried out in surroundings near the nuclear facilities and the data are compared with those measured by other methods.
