Optimization of electromagnet for isochronous cyclotron U-120K; Optimizatsiya ehlektromagnita dlya izokhronnogo tsiklotrona U-120K

Abstract

The U-120K accelerator project is a modification of the isochronous cyclotron U-120M with the magnet system based on a III-shaped electromagnet ({phi}{sub {Rho}}=120 cm). The paper reports the results of calculation aimed at optimization of the electromagnet core and excitation coil, which allows the power consumption of the accelerator electromagnet system to be reduced by 50-60%. With the maximum use of the U-120M design documentation, the power consumption of the U-120K cyclotron magnet system is shown to be 50-60 kw. 3 refs; 13 figs.; 1 tab.
