Solar driven refrigerator and hotplate; Soldrevet koeleskab og kogeplade

Abstract

The original aim was to develop a solar-driven refrigerator for the storage of vaccines in developing countries that were without conventional energy supplies. It was later found that the idea of using concentrated solar collectors in relation to cooling systems had good potentials, first with regard to the use of the surplus heat for the sterilization of medical equipment, by heating the hotplate used in this process, - and also with regard to ice packs for the transport of vaccines. The dimensioning, design and operation of this equipment is described in detail. It was found that the system can be produced at a competitive price and that it could also be very useful in the developing countries. (AB).
