Abstract
The proceedings of papers and posters presented in the experts meeting on wind, wind measurements and wind energy production in cold regions. Wind climate is favourable for wind energy production in cold regions, but there are some unsolved inconveniences caused mainly by rime accretion. The icing of WECS and gauges was one of the main topics. The research of wind conditions at remote sites has been difficult due to the lack of suitable non-freezing anemometers. Icing and low temperatures cause major problems for WECS and wind energy production in cold regions
