Abstract
The initial boundary value problem for linear symmetric hyperbolic systems with characteristic boundary is studied. The precise set of data leading to regular solutions is characterized. To do so, the compatibility condition of order m - 1 is interpreted in terms of the trace theorems in certain anisotropic Sobolev spaces. (author). 10 refs.
