System identification of offshore platforms

Abstract

The subject of this thesis is to investigate system identification methods for determination of the dynamic characteristics of offshore platforms. This includes estimation of eigenfrequencies, damping ratios, mode shapes and, furthermore, a general assessment of the structural performance. The main purpose has been to provide a basic knowledge of system identification of structures. This has been accomplished by a survey of literature and by developing and testing different approaches on simulated as well as experimental data. (AB) 246 refs.
