Abstract
The MRS parton distribution analysis is described. The latest sets are shown to give an excellent description of a wide range of deep-inelastic and other hard scattering data. Two important theoretical issues - the behaviour of the distributions at small x and the flavour structure of the quark sea - are discussed in detail. A comparison with the new structure function data from the HERA storage ring is made, and the outlook for the future is discussed. (Author).
