Polychlorinated-biophenyls, dibenzofurans and dibenzodioxins in industrial dielectric fluids; Policlorobifenili, policlorodibenzofurani e policlorodibenzodiossine in fluidi dielettrici per apparecchiature industriali

Abstract

The aims of this paper are: to characterize dielectric fluids - polychlorobiphenyls (PCB`s), polychlorodibenzofurans (PCDF`s) and polychlorodibenzodioxins (PCDD`s), used in industrial equipment in terms of service life, thermal stress phenomena, etc.; to determine, by means of extraction in Soxhlet, gas and liquid column chromatography, the scrape and wipe tests, concentration levels of these substances on contaminated surfaces following seeping or accidental leaks, etc.; and to compare the ratio of PCB`s to PCDF`s and PCDD`s in dielectric fluids in the cases of normal operation and following accidents.
