Abstract
Samples of Kali river water drawn from three locations representing proposed inlet point, outlet point and Kadra dam area which covers a distance of about 12 km along the river course from the project site, have been analysed to know the chemical characteristics with reference to cooling water purposes. Analysed data showed that the river water is slightly alkaline with 100 percent oxygen saturation. The nutrient levels were well below the maximum permissible limits and the concentration of chlorides, bicarbonates, sulphate, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium were low. Chlorine demand of the river water was found to be relatively high. (author). 9 refs., 1 tab.
