Linear polarization of 60 MeV photon beams measured according to recoil electron asymmetry in photoproduction of e{sup +}e{sup -} pairs on electrons; Izmerenie linejnoj polyarizatsii fotonnogo puchka s ehergiej 60 MehV po asimmetrii ehlektronov otdachi v fotorozhdenii e{sup +}e{sup -} par na ehlektronakh

Abstract

With the help of SK-600 streamer chamber a linear polarization of coherent bremsstrahlung beam with 60 MeV photon energy in coherent peak was measured by azimuthal asymmetry of electron yield. Distribution of recoil electrons on pulses is in a satisfactory agreement with theory: their distribution on polar angles {theta} agrees with experimental values and at {theta}{<=}50{sup 0} it agrees also with theoretical distribution. Levels of photon beam linear polarization obtained by different methods agree one with another and with the value obtained from coherent bremsstrahlung radiation theory on intensity spectrum of photon beam. 22 refs.; 5 figs.
