Abstract
The determination of the physical and operating conditions existing in power arcs, e.g., high voltage circuit breakers in trasmission and distribution electrical networks, is a rather difficult task due to extreme physical conditions of the phenomena and to the rather diffult accessibility to the test region. This paper reports on spectroscopic diagnostics of the light emitted by the plasma with simultaneous spectral, spatial and time resolution capability. The purpose is to illustrate the key design and performance features of the diagnostics instrument. The first series of measurement data on a SF/sub 6/ high-voltage circuit-breaker are used as reference.
