About mid-infrared optical spectrum of high-T{sub c} superconducting compounds

Abstract

The simple model for spin-allowed d d-excitations in copper containing high-T{sub c} superconductors (HTSC) is proposed. The Hamiltonian of the system and the operator of its interaction with the light which reflects the quadrupole and spin structure of these excitations are obtained. An attempt is made to interpret the absorption spectrum experimentally observed in the region of copper dd-transitions. (author). 13 refs.
