Experimental research of isospin and spin exotic nuclei with an ion guide and {gamma} multidetectors; Recherche experimentale de noyaux exotiques en isospin et en spin a l`aide de guides d`ions et de multidetecteurs {gamma}

Abstract

This work is concerned with nuclear studies of isospin and spin exotic nuclei by two complementary approaches: on-line radioactivity and fusion-evaporation reactions. An ion guide coupled to the SARA accelerator allowed the study of very refractory and short lived (down to 1 ms) elements. Using the {sup 238}U ({alpha} 40 MeV, f) reaction to produce very neutron-rich radioisotopes, all mass chains from A=96 to 122 have been scanned by conventional nuclear spectroscopy. More than 60 production yields have been measured. The comparison of proton and {alpha} induced fission yields shows the predominance of symmetric fission around A=115 for {alpha} beam. The collective high spin states structures observed in the A=190 mass region are studied with different {gamma} multidetectors.
