Abstract
The {eta} electroproduction on liquid hydrogen has been measured at the accelerator facility ELSA in Bonn near the N(1535)S{sub 11} resonance at an average four momentum transfer q{sup 2}=-0.056(GeV/c){sup 2}. The beam energy was chosen to 1600 MeV and the scattered electron was detected in a magnetic spectrometer at an angle of 12 . In addition, the two photons from the {eta} decay were measured in two arrays of 88 lead glass counters each. The total cross section of the {eta} production is predominated by the coupling of the N(1535)S{sub 11} resonance to the {eta} meson. The extracted angular distributions show clearly contributions from higher partial waves. (orig.)
