Abstract
The first part gives an elementary and standard introduction to conformal field theory, following the approach of Belavin, Polyakov and Zamolodchikov. The second part presents some recent developments on some relations between conformal field theory and classical integrable systems (of the Korteweg-de Vries type), the so-called W-algebras and related results on the structure of singular vectors. 40 refs, 2 tabs.
