Abstract
This booklet in the Good Practice Guide Series is one of two guides dealing with continuous steel reheating furnaces. This guide provides an introduction to continuous steel reheating furnaces and the basic principles of combustion technology. Furnace design is reviewed, particularly the aspects which affect energy consumption. An action plan is provided which summarises energy-related aspects of furnace design, and reviews the measures which will help reduce energy consumption. (Author)
