Abstract

The French software house CISI and IKE of the University of Stuttgart have developed during 1990 and 1991 in the frame of the Shared Cost Action Reactor Safety the informatic structure of the European Source TERm Evaluation System (ESTER). Due to this work tools became available which allow to unify on an European basis both code development and code application in the area of severe core accident research. The behaviour of reactor cores is determined by thermal hydraulic conditions. Therefore for the development of ESTER it was important to investigate how to integrate thermal hydraulic code systems with ESTER applications. This report describes the basic ideas of ESTER and improvements of ESTER tools in view of a possible coupling of the thermal hydraulic code system ATHLET and ESTER. Due to the work performed during this project the ESTER tools became the most modern informatic tools presently available in the area of severe accident research. A sample application is given which demonstrates the use of the new tools. (orig.) Damit wurden auf europaeischer Basis Werkzeuge zur Verfuegung gestellt, um Code-Entwicklungen und Code-Anwendungen im Bereich der schweren Stoerfaelle in Kernreaktoren europaweit zu vereinheitlichen. Diese Stoerfaelle haengen stark von den thermohydraulischen Bedingungen ab. Eine der wichtigsten Aufgaben fuer die Weiterentwicklung von ESTER was es zu untersuchen, wie Systeme zur thermohydraulischen Analyse von Reaktoren in ESTER eingebunden werden koennen. Dieser Bericht beschreibt die Grundideen von ESTER und ihre Erweiterung im Hinblick auf eine moegliche Kopplung des deutschen Thermohydraulik-Programmsystems ATHLET und ESTER. Durch die Realisierung dieser Erweiterungen stehen nun in ESTER die modernsten Informatik-Werkzeuge zur Verfuegung, die zur Zeit im Rahmen der Severe-Accident-Forschung einsetzbar sind.
