Quantum phase transitions

Abstract

In this talk I summarize current activity in the condensed matter physics community on quantum phase transitions with disorder. I describe some examples and explain in what ways these transitions differ from conventional phase transitions at finite temperature. ln particular, similarities with, and differences from, phase transitions studied in lattice gauge theories are brought out.
