Abstract
The procedure of projection of charges produced in ion absorption in a projection chamber is tested and calibrated in an ion beam to study the photo- and electrofragmentation of nuclei. The energy resolution {Delta}E/E {approx_equal} 2.5% at E {<=} 240 MeV, and A {<=} 40. The charge resolution {Delta}Z/Z {approx_equal} 5% at Z {<=} 18. Preliminary results of testing are obtained in a photofragmentation experiment. 7 refs.; 9 figs.
