Emission of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and -furans from heating equipment; Emission polychlorierter Dibenzo-p-dioxine und -furane aus Hausbrand-Feuerungen

Abstract

The Landesanstalt fuer Immissionsschutz NRW (State Agency for Air Pollution Control and Noise Abatement in North-Rhine Westphalia) investigated the emission of PCDDs/PCDFs from domestic heating equipment. The aim was to estimate the contribution of the total emission of PCDDs/PCDFs in the Federal Republic of Germany excluding the new eastern states. The following fuels were used in the experiments: - natural gas, - fuel oil, - coal (anthracit), - coke, - coal briquets, - brown coal briquets, -wood. For the investigations a burner for natural gas, an oil burner, a stove for solid fuels, and an open fireplace were available. In the flue gas three samples were taken at low load and three at medium load for each fuel. The samples were obtained by the condensation method. The two experiments with wood were carried out in a solid-fuel stove and in an open fireplace. It was found that the contribution of domestic heating to the total emission of PCDDs/PCDFs is of low significance compared with other sources. It amounts to less than 20 g per year (expressed as TE Nato CCMS). The specific emission values obtained for the various fuels differed considerably. (orig./EF). [Deutsch] Von der Landesanstalt fuer Immissionsschutz NRW wurde ein Untersuchungsprogramm zur Ermittlung von PCDD/F-Emissionen aus Hausbrandfeuerstaetten durchgefuehrt. Ziel der Untersuchung war es, in einer ersten Naeherung abzuschaetzen, welchen Beitrag der Hausbrand zur Gesamtemission von PCDD/F in der Bundesrepublik (`alte Bundeslaender`) leistet. Fuer die neuen Bundeslaender lag ausreichendes statistisches Material nicht vor. Als Brennstoffe wurden die in die 1. BImSchV angefuehrten kommerziell erhaeltlichen Brennmaterialien verwendet: - Erdgas H, - Heizoel EL, - Anthrazitkohle, - Steinkohlenkoks, - Eierkohlen (Steinkohlenbriketts), - Braunkohlenbriketts (rheinische Braunkohle), - Holz. Als Feuerstaetten standen ein Erdgasbrenner, ein Oelbrenner, eine Feststoffeuerung sowie ein offener Kamin zur Verfuegung. Pro Brennstoff wurden im Abgas drei Probenahmen bei Schwachlast und drei bei Mittellast durchgefuehrt. Die Verfeuerung von Holz wurde einmal im offenen Kamin vorgenommen. Als Probenahmemethodik fuer die Ermittlung der Dioxin- und Furankonzentrationen kam die Kondensationsmethoden zum Einsatz. Dabei ergab sich, dass der Beitrag der Emittentengruppe Hausbrand mit weniger als 20 g/a (angegeben als TE Nato-CCMS) zur Zeit von eher untergeordneter Bedeutung ist, verglichen mit anderen Quellen. Unter den energiespezifischen Werten ergab sich, bezogen auf die einzelnen Brennstoffe, erhebliche Unterschiede. (orig./EF).}
