Abstract

A simulation test of heat release and of the mechanical effects generated by deep disposal of reprocessing waste (long-lived, high-level radioactivity) was carried out in an abandoned uranium mine at Tenelles, in the Fanay-Augeres area (15 km north of Limoges). The experimental conditions are described and the main results are presented.
