Abstract
KAFEPA-II is a computer program for simulating the behaviour of UO{sub 2} fuel elements under normal operating conditions of a CANDU reactor. It computes the one-dimensional temperature distribution and thermal expansion of the fuel pellets. The amount of gas released during irradiation of the fuel is also computed. Thermal expansion and gas pressure inside the fuel element are then used to compute the strains and stresses in the sheath. This document is intended as a user`s manual and description for KAFEPA-II.
