Abstract
There have been numerous studies for devising various strategies of accident prevention and mitigation on postulated severe accidents that may lead to core damage and ultimately to containment failure. The current study is focused on depressurization of the Reactor Coolant System (RCS) through opening of pressurizer Power Operated Relief Valves (PORVs) in the TMLB` sequence and through the secondary side depressurization in the SBLOCA without HPSI sequence. The effectiveness of this accident management strategy has been investigated using SCDAP/RELAP5 and RELAP5 computer codes for the Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 (KNU 1). (Author).
