A preliminary kinetic model for NO{sub x} formation and reduction in PFBC

Abstract

A model for the formation and reduction of NO{sub x} in fluidized-bed combustion must contain information about: Volatile nitrogen release, formation of NO{sub x} from char combustion, volatile nitrogen conversion, and reduction of NO{sub x}. A schematic kinetic model for the reactions is given. This scheme will be used as a framework for the model. At first a systematic model for the formation and reduction of NO{sub x} will be set up, i.e. a model for volatile nitrogen conversion and NO{sub x} reduction. However, the model is set up in a general formulation and more reactions and catalysts can be included when kinetic information becomes available. The kinetics are valid for atmospheric pressure, and may change at higher pressures. (AB).
