Electrophoretic investigations of hydrolysis and formation of fluoride complexes of carrier-free {sup 155}Eu

Abstract

The processes of hydrolysis and formation of fluoride complexes of carrier-free {sup 155}Eu(III) have been investigated by electromigration in aqueous solutions of Na(H)ClO{sub 4} ({mu}=0.1, 25 deg C). The brutto hydrolysis constant p{beta}{sub 3h}=25.5(5) and the stepwise stability constants of the EuF{sub n}{sup 3-n} complexes lg{beta}{sub 1K}=4.6(2), lg{beta}{sub 2K}=1.16(4), lg{beta}{sub 3K}=9.40(7) have been calculated on the basis of the experimental data. The influence of the competition between the processes of fluoride complex formation and hydrolysis on the europium mobility has been investigated. 6 refs.; 3 figs.
