Abstract
Thin PET foils were bombarded by {sup 1}H{sup +}, {sup 4}He{sup +}, {sup 20}Ne{sup ++} and {sup 40}Ar{sup ++} ions. The beam induced modifications as a function of irradiation fluence, were studied by DSC, FTIR and X-ray diffractometry. The pronounced modification of the implanted samples thermal behavior was associated with changes in the crystallite morphology, and with an increase in the polymer disordered regions. (author).
