Perturbative analysis of Kapchinskij-Vladimirskij problem in emittance dominated regime

Abstract

Making reference to the Kapchinskij-Vladimirskij electron beam envelope evolution equation, this paper presents a first order perturbative analysis of the space-charge effect on a charged beam with cylindrical symmetry. Particular attention is given to the modification induced in the propagation through a drift space and a thin lens.
