Coupled transverse motion in charged beam transport dynamics and generalized Twiss coefficients

Abstract

Within the framework of accelerator physics beam dynamics modelling, this paper discusses a generalized Courant-Snyder theory for n-dimensional quadratic Hamiltonians. It stresses the usefulness of the obtained results both for transverse mode coupling in accelerators and in quantum mechanics for the generation of squeezed states.
