Effects in thin films of the high-T{sub c} compounds REBaCuO induced by ion irradiation; Bestrahlungsinduzierte Effekte in duennen Schichten der Hochtemperatursupraleiter des SEBaCuO-Systems

Abstract

The objective of this work was to study the behaviour of thin films of the REBaCuO-system under ion irradiation. For this films of different growth directions ([100], [001] and [110]) were irradiated with H{sup +}-, He{sup +}- and Ar{sup ++}-ions at room temperature (RT). The samples were characterized by resistive measurements and X-ray and electron diffraction. For irradiation experiments at low fluences a decrease of the transition temperature T{sub c} to superconductivity and a broadening of the transition width {Delta}T{sub c} were observed. At the latest at a dpa of 0.07 the samples showed no entrance to superconductivity. With increasing fluence a metal-insulator transition was observed. The specific resistance {rho} (100 K) revealed an exponential increase with fluence for all ions used. The formation of a until now unknown superstructure in irradiation a-axis films was observed. It is a {radical}2 a{sub c} x {radical}2 a{sub c} x 3a{sub c} (a{sub c} {approx_equal} 3.8 A)-structure which arises by a new ordering of the O(4) atoms in the basal plane of the `123`-structure. For irradiations with He{sup +}- and Ar{sup ++}-ions the samples were fully amorphized at a dpa of 0.2. For irradiations with protons an equilibrium between the defect production and an annealing of the defects occurred at an amorphization level of 80%. (orig./MM). [Deutsch] Das Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, das Verhalten duenner Filme des SEBaCuO-Systems unter Ionenbestrahlung beurteilen zu koennen. Hierzu wurden Filme verschiedener Wachstumsrichtungen ([100], [001] und [110]) mit H{sup +}-, He{sup +}- und Ar{sup ++}-Ionen bei Raumtemperatur bestrahlt. Die Proben wurden mittels resistiver Messungen und Roentgen- und Elektronenbeugung untersucht. Bei Bestrahlungsexperimenten mit niederen Fluenzen wurde eine Abnahme der Uebergangstemperature T{sub c} zur Supraleitung und eine Vergroesserung der Uebergangsbreite {Delta}T{sub c} beobachtet. Die Proben zeigten spaetestens bei einer dpa von 0.07 kein Eintreten der Supraleitung mehr. Mit zunehmender Fluenz wurde ein Metall-Halbleiter-Uebergang beobachtet. Der spezifische Widerstand {rho} (100 K) zeigte fuer alle Ionensorten eine exponentielle Zunahme mit der Fluenz. An bestrahlten a-Achsen-Filmen wurde die Entstehung einer bisher unbekannten Ueberstruktur beobachtet. Es handelt sich um eine {radical}2 a{sub c} x {radical}2 a{sub c} x 3a{sub c} (a{sub c}{approx_equal}3.8 A)-Struktur, die durch eine Neuordnung der O(4)-Atome in der Basalebene der `123`-Struktur entsteht. Es wurden Zusammenhaenge zwischen der Zunahme der Gitterparameter a und c nach Bestrahlung und ihren Werten vor der Bestrahlung gefunden. Mit zunehmender Fluenz wurde ein Anstieg der Verspannungen beobachtet, der zum Eintritt einer teilweisen Amorphisierung der Filme fuehrt. Die Proben waren fuer Bestrahlungen mit He{sup +}- und Ar{sup ++}-Ionen nach einer dpa von 0.2 vollstaendig amorph. Fuer Bestrahlungen mit Protonen trat bei einer 80%-igen Amorphisierung ein Gleichgewicht zwischen der Defektproduktion und einem Ausheilen der Defekte ein. (orig./MM).}
