Abstract
In urban area of the city of Espoo an area of apartment houses has been planned. The idea is to utilize geothermal heat in the heating and cooling processes. The utilization was studied by calculating the energy consumption in different alternatives: 1. passive level stuctures, 2. passive level structures and the collective cold storage space in the building, 3. low energy level structures, 4. low energy level structures and the collective cold storage space in the building. The life cycle cost (LCC) was also studied and calculated in several different ways
