Abstract
The methods and results of measuring the transverse energy of electrons with energy up to 20 keV and beam current up to 2.5 A are discussed. The applicability of the energy and optical analyzers for measuring transverse energy and axial energy spread for electrons in intensive high-energy beams is studied. The transverse temperature of electrons in the beam generated by the LEAR gun is measured. It is shown that it amounts to 0.1-0.3 eV at H{approx_equal}600 Gs and 0.3-1 eV at H{approx_equal}450 Gs under modes with perveance of 1-5 {mu}A/B{sup 3/2}. 9 refs.; 19 figs.; 4 tabs.
