Energy status 2010; Energistatus 2010

Abstract

In the new report, Energy Status NVE provides a unified presentation of statistics and facts about the Norwegian energy system. It gives an overview of the production, transmission and consumption of electricity in the Norwegian society, and shows energy use for various purposes and the relationship between energy and the environment. Norway is the sixth largest hydropower producer in the world and, together with Iceland the highest portion of renewable electricity production of all countries in Europe. In comparison, is about 17 percent of all electricity in the EU based on renewable resources. In Sweden, renewable energy resources account for about half of all electricity production, while the corresponding share in Denmark is about 29 percent. The good supply of water power has contributed to the fact that Norway has a consumption pattern that differs from the countries around us. (AG)
