Reaction of primary radiolytic species of water with 3,4-dihydroxy benzoic acid

Abstract

The OH radicals are observed to react with 3,4 dihydroxy benzoic acid by addition to the benzene ring and carboxylic acid group whereas H atoms react predominantly by addition to carboxylic acid group. The electron adduct formed on reaction of e{sub aq}{sup -} with the solute is observed to undergo intra-molecular transformation and forms radical anion. (author). 2 refs., 1 fig.
