Abstract
The absorption spectra obtained in the reactions of {sup .}OH and SO{sub 4}{sup .-}with bromobenzenes and bromotoluenes have maxima around 320 - 330 nm which are assigned to their {sup .}OH adducts. Additional weak bands (400 - 430 nm) observed in the case of SO{sub 4}{sup .-} reaction with bromobenzene and 1,2-dibromobenzene are, probably, due to the formation of the intermediate phenoxyl radical.
