Abstract
A summary is given of the following devices that have been developed for the purpose of space experiments. MGES (micro gravity experiment system) has been loaded in a single-stage solid-propellant rocket and launched from Tanegashima Space Center. The payload part loaded in MGES is retrieved on the sea after the combustion of a rocket motor, ballistic flight and 6-minute micro gravity experiment. All launches have been completed successfully, and it has been confirmed by measurement that the strength, rigidity and in-flight load were on a satisfactory level. ITF (induction-type furnace) has been developed. It is a high temperature furnace that is capable of heating above 1000 C by a small capacity electric power, and the coexistence has been verified of its contradictory performance between a vibration resistance at the time of heating and a rapid heating by a small electric power. In the launches, ITF was provided for an investigation such as the manufacturing of a high strength grain dispersion alloy. TGF (temperature gradient furnace) has been developed. It employs a gold mirror tube and is capable of performing the on-the-spot observation of samples. In the launches, TGF was provided for the observation of the rapid crystal growth of Ge
