"description" : "A simple model representing the life cycle of atmospheric nitrogen compounds is described and used to study the nitrogen budget for the United Kingdom and North West Europe. Attention is given to the processes of emission, transport, dry deposition, oxidation, aerosol scavenging and wet deposition. Deposition over the UK is dominated by dry deposition of HN0/sub 3/ derived largely from UK sources. Wet deposition over the UK is considerably smaller than dry deposition but European sources make a significant contribution to wet deposition in the UK. In regions remote from man-made NO sources, wet deposition outweighs dry deposition by a considerable factor. The transboundary deposition fluxes from one European country to another have been described and a pattern of net exporters and importers of dry and wet deposition has been established. An analysis of the uncertainties in the model output is given using Latin hypercube sampling points, to confidence limits in dry and wet depositions encompassing an order of magnitude range. Total deposition values have an uncertainty of + -40 - 50%.",
