  "description" : "The depositional environment in the Kazusa Group Pilo-Pleistocene epoch was studied using mudstone samples taken from bore holes. The samples are mudstone and sandstone taken from Ichihara, Kami-ota and Oami bore holes. None of the samples had quite a different mineralogical composition. Observation of pyrites disclosed the existence of two kinds of pyrites, namely, one filling the center of the foraminiferal cells and the other covering the cells. Sulfur, carbon, nitrogen, chlorine and the amounts of the components by from were measured to study their varidity as geochemical indices. The ratio of total sulfur to total nitrogen reflects the deposition rate of the deposit. The ratio of total sulfur to organic carbon/total nitrogen shows the mixed degree of land-originated deposit. By the research, the scale of organic deposit was confirmed, and indices necessary for the estimation of depositional environment for the mineralogical study were acquired. 46 refs., 16 figs., 4 tabs.",
